Understand the requirements. Review your circumstances with qualified advisors.
The current Golden Visa framework includes several routes: creating at least ten jobs, investing at least €500,000 in qualifying scientific research, contributing at least €250,000 to eligible artistic or cultural-heritage activities, investing at least €500,000 in qualifying non-real-estate collective investment vehicles, or making certain €500,000 investments into Portuguese companies combined with the required job creation or maintenance.
Direct or indirect real-estate investment no longer qualifies. The €500,000 fund route has therefore become particularly relevant for people who prefer a professionally managed investment rather than establishing and operating a business themselves. But the vehicle must satisfy the statutory Golden Visa requirements. It is not enough simply to invest €500,000 in any Portuguese fund.
